The former Liverpool manager admits rejoining to coach Liverpool is conceivable.

The German coach, who stepped down from Anfield in 2024, indicated that rejoining the club is a possibility. Klopp, after a transformative near-decade reign which brought Champions League success and ending the club's long wait since 1990, has since taken on positions as head of global soccer within the Red Bull organization and as an advisor for the DFL.

In a wide-ranging interview, he shared with his interviewer: “I declared I will never coach another team in England. So that means in case it's my former club...absolutely. Theoretically it’s possible.”

“Being 58, so I might decide down the line, it's uncertain. Must I choose now? Then I will not coach again. But thank God, it's not necessary. I'll simply watch what the future brings.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Questioned regarding what circumstances would have to unfold to bring him back to management, Klopp admitted he isn't eager for a comeback. “I'm not entirely sure, I love what I do right now,” he commented. “I don’t miss coaching; I don’t miss standing during downpours for lengthy sessions; I'm glad to skip interviews repeatedly each week or having 10-12 interviews a week.

“I don’t miss the dressing room as a dressing room, but sitting in a restaurant with the team enjoying conversation, I appreciate that. We won a lot of games meaning regularly a very good mood around the place. I still have Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh vividly recalled for example.”

Praise for His Successor

He commended of the current boss, crediting him due to the changes which secured the championship last term. They've been defeated four consecutive matches across various tournaments after a summer spending spree, yet he dismissed the suggestion it could be a decline.

“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker such as Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if you use the wrong words. An outstanding player. [Hugo] Ekitike, superb talent. It’s a really good well-judged squad. You don’t have to worry over the club, they will be fine.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

He shared movingly regarding the passing of Jota, a player he signed in 2020, along with the consequences for the team. Jota lost his life in a car crash with his brother in July.

“Who can fill the void of somebody like Diogo? This isn't just regarding his on-field talent, it's his character. I can’t imagine the dressing room without him in it. I still cannot speak properly about it. A devastating blow for his teammates also. No one within the club might employ it for poor performances though it's a fact. You walk in a dressing room where his spirit remains. Coping with it individually is difficult. Impossible.”
