Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Has The Club's Support After PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot conceded that it's expected for concerns to be asked about his position following a further convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their ninth loss in 12 games, representing the club's worst run since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I've received significant support from above,” the coach commented.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and earn three points of course but when you're working as a coach and struggling then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He added, “I accept my situation. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Discussions with The Board

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his discussions with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:

“We talk a lot. They assist for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular discussions I perceive the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them since this match yet so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Issues and Squad Reaction

Slot lamented known weaknesses from his squad in their European defeat, specifically missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club for years.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a phase like this with outcomes so bad.”

He concluded, “But we still have the crest on our chest. And until that badge is gone, we will always compete.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad return to where it needs to be, show everyone once more what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the top club in the world.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
