Edwards and O'Neil represent the early candidates under consideration to succeed the former manager as manager of Wolves.

The previous coach was dismissed on Sunday after the squad's ten-game without a victory start to the top-flight campaign.

And Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have previous links to the club - are part of the options to be considered by the Wolves leadership.

Edwards is presently at another club, which would create a potential obstacle to his appointment at Wolves' stadium.

However the former Luton manager - who made more than 100 of appearances for the club during his playing career - is considered a leading candidate for the vacancy.

The 42-year-old is said to have support from the club board as they begin the process of hiring a fresh manager.

Gary O'Neil is also appearing as a surprise candidate, even though he would be a shock choice considering he was released by Wolves in December last year.

The ex- West Ham United midfielder is currently unemployed meaning Wolves would not need to pay any buyout fee.
