Pat Bamford Joins the Blades After Initiating Abusive Songs Targeting Coach Chris Wilder

The striker has joined Sheffield United only half a year after instigating derogatory taunts targeting their manager, Chris Wilder.

This experienced striker, without a club since leaving Leeds United, has agreed to a deal with the second-tier club in difficulty until January. Bamford's seven-year spell with Leeds concluded by mutual consent this past summer.

Among the player's last memorable actions as a Leeds player involved leading offensive chants about Wilder during Leeds' success festivities this spring. Currently, the one-cap England international will be playing under Wilder as the Blades’ manager aims to rescue his beloved club away from the bottom places.

Previous History Between the Striker & Wilder

Both men had previous conflict prior to Leeds moved up back to the top flight the previous campaign while Sheffield United lost the promotion decider by Sunderland. The manager described the forward as “a muppet” when the situation was different in 2018-19 and Sheffield United secured direct promotion whereas Leeds United fell short in the promotion playoffs.

Reconciliation and Moving Forward

Everything appears to have been put behind them with United, the league's least productive attack, urgently requiring of a boost in attack while Bamford hoping to rejuvenate his playing days.

The song about Wilder gained traction in April. An apologetic Patrick along with Leeds boss, Farke, phoned Wilder the following day.

Chris Wilder stated at the time: “Had a conversation with Pat recently and I’ve no problem whatsoever with that. I’m not sure about the words used from a fellow pro! However I appreciated and admired him calling me.

“We had 20 minutes and the same again I spoke to Daniel too and we had a half-hour chat with him and he is a super guy, a class act. When I was playing we would dish it out and take it and that is an integral part of the game across all levels, even on a Sunday morning. I've got no problem at all. I am cool with it and I said that to Patrick.”

Latest Career Challenges

The forward featured in 18 appearances with Leeds United last season but the ex- Nottingham Forest, Chelsea FC and Middlesbrough player has faced difficulties with fitness issues in recent years.
