Hulu is Developing a Far Cry TV Series from the Minds of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The newest Far Cry game that players dived into was Far Cry 6, that featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and debuted on October 6, 2021. As a series, it has a reputation for delighting in chaos and madness with the same excitement, all while presenting engaging, socially charged tales. Little surprise that the network’s new order for a Far Cry anthology series brought on board two visionaries whose work have exemplified all of those elements.

Show Details

Inspired by Ubisoft's successful video game property, the limited anthology series will be available on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' format by featuring a fresh location and group of personalities in each season.

Key Producers

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as showrunners on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared magnificent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is fresh, compelling, and extremely entertaining. We also want to appreciate our associates at Ubisoft for trusting us with this popular property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also appear in the show, but as of now, we are unsure of what character that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently renewed for another season, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the producer.

“Being able to collaborate alongside Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally accommodating, trusting us with one of the most iconic video-game realms ever created. And throughout this process, my FX team continues to lift me up with their constant confidence and backing.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style show. Every title is a take of a theme, the same way every series of Fargo is a version on a theme,” noted Hawley. “To produce a big action show that can shift from year to year, while always examining the essence of people through this multifaceted and chaotic viewpoint, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to partner with Rob and present our mutual bold, daring sensibility to the screen.”

A release window for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
