Followers Demand Arrest of Individual Who Touched Ariana Grande
Passionate fans of the pop star are urging that a man who leaped a fence and seized the actress during yesterday's Wicked: For Good debut be taken into custody or expelled from Singapore.
A widely shared video reveals the individual from Australia pushing past camera operators and lunging at Grande while the actors made its way down a promenade accompanied by fans.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo immediately guided the surprised performer away from Mr Wen, who was observed being escorted out of the gathering by security officers.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "let go after being detained", though court documents revealed that he was due to be present on the next day. It is uncertain if he was faced legal action.
History of Event Invasions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Controversial Figure", has crashed a concert or event. His Instagram profile contains recordings of him disturbing other high-profile occasions, including breaching the performance area at the artist's Sydney concert in June this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers event in the same location last year.
"There needs to be action enforced against him as this is evidently a criminal offence," wrote an Instagram commenter, in a message to a video Mr Wen shared of his act.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" a different Instagram user questioned.
Fans Voice Worry Over Grande's Safety
Many fans accused Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had spoken of dealing with PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at the end of her 2017 show in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and injuring many.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" wrote one more comment on Instagram.
Some attendees also questioned security officers at the premiere for not being adequately prepared; while others demanded social media platforms to ban Mr Wen's videos.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In videos spreading on the internet, Grande looked surprised when she was touched by the intruder. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted consoling her while Mr Wen was escorted away by staff.
Grande has not issued a statement on the situation, and the premiere activities continued without further issues.
Many of supporters had gathered in a sea of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good international premiere in a Singapore venue, including some who had stood in line for as long as a significant duration before it commenced.
The motion picture, to be released on the 21st of November, is the sequel of a two-film version of the popular Broadway and West End production Wicked, which centers on the unlikely friendship between two distinct sorceresses.
The musical itself is a spin-off of the twentieth-century book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the character Glinda Glinda, was dressed in a champagne pink glittering gown at the gathering while Erivo, who plays the Elphaba, wore a elegant ensemble embroidered with roses.
They were alongside fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the most successful film of last year in the UK, and earned ten Academy Award nods, winning two for excellent wardrobe and production design.
