Far-Right Former Legislator José Antonio Kast Voted In as Chile's Next President.
After a definitive final ballot, ultra-conservative candidate José Antonio Kast has won the presidential office in Chile.
A Clear-Cut Victory
With over 99% of votes tallied, Kast garnered 58.17% of the vote, beating leftist candidate Jeannette Jara, who obtained 41.83%.
This represents Kast's third presidency, having earlier been lost by the sitting president, Gabriel Boric, in the 2021 final vote.
Platform Built On Security and Immigration
Noted for his staunch socially conservative views and regard for the era of former leader Augusto Pinochet, Kast's campaign was mostly centered on promises to address growing violence and radically reduce immigration.
