Ex- Doctor Faces Sexual Assault Allegations Involving 38 Patients

Prosecutors have announced that a former doctor has been charged with carrying out assaults involving 38 victims who were under his care.

Details of the Serious Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

A senior prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

These allegations come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

List of Offences

The charging documents said the 45 charges include:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
