The British government is ready to advance with employing the entire amount of seized Russia's assets to aid the Ukrainian defense operations, Leader Sir Keir Starmer has announced.

In a shared declaration, the heads of state of the United Kingdom, France, and Germany asserted that this joint measure would heighten pressure on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and compel Russia to come to the table.

They clarified that the initiative would be implemented in close cooperation with the United States.

United Kingdom sanctions have frozen more than £25bn of Russian funds since Moscow launched its full-scale invasion against Ukraine in 2022. Yet, up to this point, money provided to the Ukrainian government using Russian funds had solely been drawn from gains and dividends generated on them.

Sir Keir told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the Britain, France, and Germany were in agreement in their aim to advance efforts toward employing the complete amount of the frozen Russian sovereign holdings to end the war.

He stated that further restrictions over the next period would heighten the tension on Moscow.

This announcement comes after European representatives met in the Danish capital previously to discuss utilizing immobilized Russia's assets for a €140bn financial aid to Ukraine.

Recently, American leader Donald Trump encouraged international partners to confiscate or otherwise use immobilized Russian assets, based on media sources.

The total of frozen Russia's funds in the EU is estimated to be nearly €211bn.
